COMMUNITY BUILDER

Job Title: Community Builder

Introduction

The Vuka Collective team leads a group of mission-driven companies including Impact Hub Austin, Gather Event Venues, and Wake Up Personal and Professional Development Programs.

Impact Hub Austin is a purposeful community of makers, entrepreneurs, activists, creatives, and professionals. We belong to a global network of 80+ locations in 50 countries around the world, co-working locations where business and profit are used in the service of people and  planet.

Position Overview

The Community Builder creates the first impression for Impact Hub Austin clients and guests. You interact primarily with our Impact Hub clients—the coworking members who form the backbone of our community. But, as the home of Vuka Collective, you’ll also interact with our employees, partners and vendors, and with the guests who attend the events and programming we host through Gather & Wake Up.

Your job is to exude hospitality: to make our guests—coworkers, prospects, and visitors—feel welcome and comfortable, and to foster and maintain a rich and engaged community. You’ll do this by knowing our co-workers by name; actively inviting our members to our programs, ensuring that member needs are understood and exceeded; keeping the facility functional, clean and comfortable; communicating clearly; being the first stop when there is a member  issue that needs to be addressed, and escalating issues that you cannot resolve in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities will vary by shift and location and can include:

Client Services

  • Provide a vibrant welcome for everyone who enters our doors and ensure they are properly checked in

  • Assist coworkers with problems, including helping to manage the Care Queue in our CRM (Streak) and helping to manage the membership system (Cobot)

  • Set-up and help run programming (happy hours, talks, etc) for co-workers

  • Provide mini tours to visitors and forward contact information to Sales Team

  • Troubleshoot technology issues as they arise (printers, wifi)

  • Receive and process mail

  • Receive payment for products (food, etc.)

Facility / Physical Space

  • Open or close your assigned facility each day

  • Manage the physical comfort of the space (light, music, temperature)

  • Check the grounds for any issues that need attention (trash, safety, etc.)

  • Ensure that the common areas, kitchens, bathrooms and conference rooms are tidy and stocked throughout the day (dishes, replenish bathroom supplies, garbage cans etc)

  • Inventory and reorder supplies

  • With instruction, contact and help coordinate repair people

Job Specifications

  • The position can be full or part-time. Full-time positions receive our current benefit packages. Pay is consistent with experience.

  • Schedules will be published every two weeks.

  • Community Builders report to the Head of Hospitality and Facilities.

  • Community Builders may be asked to lift and carry items weighing up to 40lbs, and must be able to do so safely.

  • This position does not require any travel.

Success Measures

Definition of Success

Your ultimate goal is to help us build a thriving and sustainable community where people not only work but connect with one another. You’ll know that you’ve been successful in this role when: coworkers know your name and want to stop and chat with you or come to you with problems to solve; you feel confident in your ability to solve coworker and facility problems; the Managing Director of Impact Hub Austin relies upon you for successful program delivery; the space is ordered, stocked and comfortable on your watch; you’re suggesting facility and service upgrades to the Head of Hospitality and Facilities.
